Recipe: Sumertime Pesto

There's nothing better in the summer than a nice pot of Basil (thanks MIL and FIL!)

Look how much I was able to get from one plant already!!

Skill Level: Easy
Items Needed:

Food processor

A medium sized bowl of basil leaves
1/2 cup of nuts
1/2 to 1 cup of olive oil
1/4 cup of parmesan cheese

 

Average Time: 5-10 minutes

Seriously, look at the size of this leaf!!

So easy to make!



Blend the ingredients in the food processor and toss with fresh pasta.  

Taste it... if it needs more of something, add it to the mix and blend again.

So easy to eat :o)

My 2 year old loves his pesto as does hubby.

Tutorial: Recycled Cardboard Puffy Boxes

A couple of days ago, I posted some pictures of play milk cartons made from recycled cereal boxes.

Today's post is going to be all about how easy it is to make puffy boxes.

Skill Level: Easy
Items Needed:
Cardboard cereal or cookie box
Scissors

Ruler

Sewing machine or glue
Average Time: 5 minutes

First, you should head over to Mirkwood Designs for the template.

Grab your empty cardboard 

box and cut it in half.

Next print out the template and trace it onto your box.

Not too pretty looking but it's on the inside.

Cut it out.

Score it with the back of your scissors to make folding easier.

Use a piece of the cardboard that you cut as your guide for scoring the rounded part of the box.











Fold it over and glue one side of the box to the tab you cut.  Alternatively, you could sew it.  I sewed it.

Now would be a good time to attach your label if you have one.

Fold in the ends

Looks good so far

I cut some of the inner flap to make it easier to open.

Voila!  You are done.
